Title:Between Values and Unity: Education, Activism, and Community Leadership in a Time of Polarization

Program Overview:
How do you lead a community during chaos? How do you stand firmly for your values while still working toward unity? In this talk, I will share the story of the Ve’Ahavta Reform Community in Shoham—an evolving liberal Jewish congregation within a modern Israeli town—and how it has become a hub for spiritual life, social action, and communal belonging.

Drawing from the past two years of activism and leadership, I will explore how we support hostage families, build community resilience in times of war, lead educational and women’s initiatives, and strengthen Israel–Diaspora relationships. I will also speak about how our community integrates into the broader municipal fabric of Shoham, develops meaningful outreach programs, and builds relationships with diverse neighbors.

At the heart of the talk is the belief that liberal Jewish education provides a pathway to moral leadership, social responsibility, and healing within Israeli society. I will also reflect on our vision for growth and how we strive to create a welcoming and relevant entry point for Israelis seeking a meaningful connection to Judaism.
