Since our last update, the progress on Temple Israel’s new home has become increasingly visible. The building is taking shape, the project remains financially strong, and we are beginning to turn our attention toward how we will use and experience our new home.
For a terrific view of the project, visit the top level of the Utica Square parking garage. It offers a striking perspective on how much has already taken shape.
Here is a brief update:
- Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our donors, commitments to the NextDor campaign have surpassed $13 million. The work is not over—our goal is to raise an additional $1 million to complete the project as envisioned—but we have reached an extraordinary milestone. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported the project.
- Construction remains essentially on schedule and on budget, even after incorporating several improvements and additional City requirements.

- Plans for the Community Court continue to advance. This flexible central gathering space will accommodate everything from informal conversations to larger congregational programs and celebrations.
- Work continues on security and technology, including access controls, outdoor Wi-Fi, cameras, and enhanced doors for the two designated safe-room classrooms.
- The leadership team and staff are also preparing for occupancy—considering how our flexible spaces will operate and what facilities support will be needed once the building opens
We have reached an important moment in the NextDor journey. The work is no longer only about constructing a building; it is increasingly about preparing to make it our home.
