FROM THE NEXTDOR LEADERSHIP TEAM

Todd Arlan, Jory Budd, Ryan Coretz, Brina Reinstein, Julie Rettinger,

Jon Stolper (Chair), David Weil

We have been making significant and exciting progress on the NextDor Project. Since most of that progress has not been visible to congregations, we want to share a quick update.

1. Design

We are pleased to report that the Design Development (DD) phase with our architects at Finegold Alexander is now complete! The DD phase is an interim step between the schematic design and construction documentation phases. The name appropriately describes this stage of design: it develops – from the schematic concept into a more refined and articulated architectural idea. DD serves as a basis for cost prediction in bidding, providing the basis for an estimate for construction. These documents may also be used as part of the approvals process for early building permits.

And we have officially entered the final phase—Construction Documents (CD)—which will carry us through the remainder of the project. In this phrase all necessary technical information is finalized. The final set of drawings and specifications will include the information that is required to obtain a building permit from whichever local authority has jurisdiction (e.g., the city or county).

Reaching this milestone is a major step forward, and you can expect to see visible progress in the coming months.

4. Leadership Team

We’re pleased to share that Jory Budd has recently joined the Leadership Team to represent the staff’s perspective on key aspects of the project. She will be focusing on financial planning, operations, move-out logistics, and coordination of communications related to our temporary space. Jory will be supported in this work by Temple’s Lesley Bumgarner and our newly hired part-time Transition Coordinator, Jeff Sloan.

Our Leadership Team continues to meet weekly—often more frequently—to oversee every detail. We are actively working with our architects and consultants on key decisions regarding furnishings, fixtures, heating systems, A/V, and more.

Thank you for your continued support, enthusiasm, and dedication as we move forward together.
